Since I held my first camera at the age of 14, I have been fascinated by the ability of film, and now sensors, to capture moments in time. Even more interesting is the ability to abstract stretches of time into a single frame. Given my biologist background, I originally gravitated towards nature photography but another major interest asserted itself over the years - the world of the cowboy. In my western photography I am fascinated by the myth of the cowboy and attempt to illustrate various aspects of that life. My goal is for the viewer to taste the grit of dust in their teeth, feel of the coolness of the smooth saddle and smell the cattle on the trail. On second thought, perhaps the taste and feel are sufficient... Ray Marsal Photography is based in Dallas, TX with a focus on cowboy, western and nature photography. |
